He received the AFC for experimental flying with the Instrument Armament Defence Flight Experimental Section at RAF Farnborough in 1940. He served at RAF Newmarket for 99 (RAF) Squadron. He was appointed as a Wing Commander RAF. He served in #405 (RAF) Squadron as Commanding Officer1941. He served in #419 (RCAF) Squadron as Commanding Officer.
