Biography
He was a graduate of the Wright Flying School Dayton OH USA in 1915.
 
Military Service
He was appointed as a Probationary Flight Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RNAS (With seniority dated 15/11/1915). He served in RNAS Chingford for Air Training 1915. He was appointed as a Flight Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RNAS (With seniority dated 15/11/1915). He served at Dunkirk France with No. 8 (N) RNAS and later in Italy. Flight Lieutenant (Temp.) RNAS 31/12/1916. He served in RNAS Manstone 1916. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross "in recognition of his services in attacking a large enemy two-seater saplane on the 12th September 1916. Flight Sub-Lieutenant Galbraith's machine was severely damaged by gunfire from the enemy machine, which finally blew up in the air." He was awarded a Bar "for conspicuous gallantry. On 23rd November 1916 he attacked single-handed a formation of six hostile aircraft, no other allied machines being in the vicinity. One hostile machine was shot down a second was driven down under control and the remaining four machines then gave up the fight and landed. In several othe rcombats Flight Lieutenant Galbraith has displayed exceptional gallantry, particularly on 10th and 16th November on each of which days he successfully engaged and shot down an enemy machine." After the First World War he joined the Canadian Air Force.
