After his naval service he pursued a civil engineering career.

He was appointed as a Probationary Flight Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RNAS. He served in the Curtis Flying School at Long Branch ON. He was Awarded Wings 21/07/1915. He was appointed as a Flight Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RNAS (With seniority dated 21/07/1915). He served in RNAS Calshot 1916. He was appointed as an A/Squadron Commander RNAS 1918, Released.
