The son of a farmer, he attended high school in Enderby, British Columbia. Born 23 June 1890 on farm near Turtle Mountain, Manitoba; father a farmer; attended High School in Enderby, British Columbia. Went to Curtiss School, 1915 but did not graduate. |
Military Service |

He was appointed as a Probationary Flight Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RNAS (With seniority dated 16/12/1915). He was appointed as a Flight Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RNAS (With seniority dated 16/12/1915). He served in H.M.S. President For Instruction at Central Flying School RNAS 1916, 3 (Naval) Squadron RNAS for B Flight 1917. He was appointed as a Flight Lieutenant (Temp.) RNAS (With seniority dated 05/08/1917). He served in #3 (Naval) Squadron RNAS 1917. He was appointed as an A/Flight Commander RNAS 1918. He served in #203 RAF Squadron 1918. He served in Home Establishment 1918, He joined the Royal Naval Air Service in 1915. Flying the Sopwith Pup, he became an ace during the summer of 1917 but was ill in August and went home to Canada to recuperate. In January 1918, he returned to active duty, scoring nine more victories with the Sopwith Camel. He served in #3 (N) Squadron, 3 January 1918. He served in #253 Squadron 08/11/1918. He served in 123 Squadron 28/04/1919. (He was retired from the Royal Air Force in 1928.) |
