He was a graduate of the Royal Military College of Canada. He trained as a mechanical engineer. After leaving the navy in the 1960s he worked for Sun Oil Company (Sunoco). In 1967 he joined Industry, Trade and Commerce in Ottawa. In the twenty-five years that followed Don held numerous key policy and program positions in the federal government including in Environment, the Privy Council. In 1980 he was In 1980 he was the Deputy Comptroller General (Program Evaluation Branch) Office of the Comptroller General of Canada. He joined Indian and Northern Affairs where, in 1992, he retired as Assistant Deputy Minister (Land, Revenues, and Trusts). |

He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant (E) RCN (With seniority dated 01/09/1958). He was appointed as a Lieutenant (SD) (Civil Engineering) RCN (With seniority dated 01/10/1959). He served in NHQ on Staff of Chief of Logistics Engineering and Development 1964. (He was released.) |
