On 24/05/1914 he joined the Canadian Engineers as a Sapper at St. Catharines ON. He trained at Camp Rockcliffe and at the Division Signallers Depot. (He was discharged 17/08/1914 to enlist in the RNCVR.) He was appointed as a Wireless Learner RNCVR (With seniority dated 30/08/1917). In 1917 he served in HMCS Niobe as Addional for Duty and Instruction at Naval Wireless Telegraph School. He served in patrol and convoy service. He was appointed as a Warrant Officer Telegraphist RNCVR 1918. (He was demobilized 03/01/1919 at Halifax NS.) |
