Biography
He came to the BC coast in 1886 and joined the Canadian Pacific Navigation Co. (He was qualified as a Master Mariner.) His first command was the Princess Louise. In 1914 he piloted Vilhjalmur Steffansson in the Karluk as far as Wrangell Island. He qualified as a BC Coast Pilot (#1) in 1903. He retired as a pilot in 1935. He was the father of Captain Walter Gosse.
