Biography
He took flying training with Curtiss Flying School in the USA 1915. He is considered to have been Canada's first flying ace. Born 11 January 1892 in United States; home in Toronto (engineering student at university); passed tests at Toronto Curtiss School, 1915; A Canadian Air Board examiner in 1921. A British Subject born of British parentage in Lansing, Michigan, Grange grew up in Toronto and obtained his flying credentials in Canada. After his wartime service he became an engineer and businessman in Toronto ON.
 
Military Service
He was appointed as a Probationary Flight Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RNAS (With seniority dated 30/09/1915) in Ottawa ON. He sailed on the Athenia from Montreal 05/10/1915. He was appointed as a Flight Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RNAS 1916.He served in #1 (Naval) Wing in Dunkirk 01/1916. He served in #8 (Naval) Squadron, attached to #22 Wing (RFC) 10/1916. He was wounded at Bapaume France 07/01/1917. He was appointed as a Flight Lieutenant (Temp.) RNAS 10/1916).He served as a Instructor in the UK.He served in RNAS Eastbourne 08/1917. He was appointed as a Flight Commander (Temp.) RNAS 1917. (Flying the Sopwith Pup he served first with #1( Naval) Wing and then joined #8 (Naval) Squadron in October 1916. On 04/01/ 1917 he claimed three Albatros D.Iis and three days later, he was wounded in action scoring his fifth victory over another Albatros D.II. (He was demobilized.)
