He was wireless operator at the time of his recruitment into the navy. (He is thought by Frank Statham to have served previously with the British General Post Office.) In 1904-1908 he served in the Glasgow Post Office as a Telegrapher. In 1914 he served in the Dominion Wireless Service as a W/T Operator at Gonzales Point Radio Station. In 1918 he served at Estevan Point Radio Station. In 1923 he served in Victoria BC as Radio Inspector. In 1926 he was OIC of Radio Monitoring Station Point Grey during the Second World War. (He was retired in 1953). |

He was appointed as a Ist Class Wireless Telegraph Operator RNCVR (With seniority dated 01/03/1916). In 1916-1918 he served in HMCS Rainbow for Wireless Telegraph Duty (West Coast) at Gonzales Hill Radio Station. (He was demobilized.) |
