Biography
His family emigrated from Dusseldorf Germany to Powell River BC in 1962. He is the twin brother of Rear-Admiral Nigel Greenwood RCN.
 
Military Service
He was appointed as an Officer Cadet (ROTP) (CF) 1975. He served in Royal Roads Military College 1975. He served in the Royal Military College of Canada 1977. He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant (MARE) (With seniority dated 01/05/1979). He served in Marine Engineering Training 1979-1981. He attended University College London for Post Graduate Training. He was appointed as a Lieutenant (N) (MARE). He served in MARPAC for Naval Engineering Unit Pacific as Naval Architect 1983. He served on Exchange With the USN at the David Taylor Naval Ship Research and Development Center. He was appointed as a Lieutenant-Commander (MARE) (With seniority dated 01/1986). He served in the Directorate of Maritime Engineering and Maintenance for Concept Formulation Section as Project Officer Long Term Procurement 1988. He served in the Directorate of Maritime Engineering and Maintenance for Concept Formulation Section as Acting Section Head Naval Architecture Services.
