Anecdotes |
---|
After his retirement from the navy and partial retirement from his civilian occupation, a highly recognized heart surgeon, Bill spent his time as part owner of a 37 foot Truant pilothouse sloop. Bill Clearihue notes (E-mail to Nauticapedia 14/10/2018) that "He was the National Pres of the short-lived "White Twist Club" (1985-87) from which the UNTDA-Upper Canada formed (I was an inaugural member). and which in turn became the current nation-wide UNTDA. He articulated how he saw things unfolding as to purpose etc and those tenets still apply. The reason it didn't work as a national outfit back then was that the guys were just way too busy and so it remained as a collection of local units, Vancouver, Toronto, Ottawa primarily. As the guys got older and started retiring and coupled with the increasing ease of digital communication, there was more of an appetite to re-engage." |
