From 1944 until 1948 he worked in the offices of the daily newspaper of Woodstock ON and pursued private studies in music. In 1948-1949 he attended the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, specializing in piano and composition. He is Emeritus Professor of Christian Theology, McGill University, Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario, graduating in 1953 with the Bachelor of Arts degree, with concentration in philosophy, religion and English literature.
In the Fall of 1953, Hall went to New York’s Union Theological Seminary for his graduate theological studies. Intending to remain at Union for one year, he in fact stayed for seven. He has three earned graduate degrees (M.Div., 1956; S.T.M., 1957; and Th.D., 1963). In 1975,he was invited to become Professor of Christian Theology in the Faculty of Religious Studies of McGill University For twenty years Hall held this position, retiring in 1995; and in 1996 he was granted the distinction, Emeritus Professor. |
