Biography
He was trained as a medical doctor at St. Thomas' and Guys' Hospitals. In 1893-1903 he served as District Surgeon in Zululand, Africa. In 1903 he returned to England and emigrated to Victoria BC in 1908. In London he took a Yacht master's certification. After his First World War service he continued a medical practic in Victoria BC. He raced the yacht Fayth (built in Hong Kong). He returned to England in 1932-39 and set up a medical practice near Brighton UK. In 1940 he returned to Victoria BC. He was a member of the Thermopylae Club in Victoria BC 1940. He served as Medical Officer in the cableship Restorer in 1941. In 1941-1943 he served as Medical Officer in the transport Empire Woodlark. He served in the Restorer 1946-1947 (at the age of 82!). (He died in the Veterans Hospital.)
 
Military Service
In 1892 he joined the Royal Naval Artillery Volunteers (RNAV) in the London Brigade serving in HMS Baltic (depot ship). He was one of the initial sponsors of the formation of the Royal Naval Canadian Volunteer Reserve in Victoria BC in 1913. He drilled with the Pioneer Company Naval Volunteers at HMCS Rainbow and gave instruction in boat pulling. He was appointed as a Lieutenant RNCVR (With seniority dated 12/09/1914). He served in HMCS Shearwater II 1914. (His appointment was terminated 18/01/1915) In 1915 he travelled back to London and was commissioned as a Lieutenant RNVR. In 1915 he went to HMS Excellent for a Gunnery Course. He was appointed as a Surgeon RNVR (With seniority dated 05/12/1916). He served in HMS Carysfort as Surgeon 1917-19. He served in HMS Victory as Surgeon 1919-1920. (He was demobilized in 1920 and returned to Victoria BC.)
