He was a rigger at the time of his recruitment into the navy.

 

Military Service
He was appointed as an Ordinary Seaman RNCVR. He was appointed as an Able-Seaman RNCVR. He served in HMCS Grilse (patrol yacht) 1916. (He was drowned in Canadian waters on December 12, 1916).
