Biography
He was trained as a boat builder at Summers & Payne, Southampton UK. In 1913 he started work at HMC Dockyard Esquimalt as a Boat Builder. In 1914 he replaced Assistant Paymaster A.L. Withers RCN in the Dockyard office. Between the wars he was the civillian Secretary to several senior Naval Officers at HMCS Naden.
 
Military Service
He was appointed as Assistant Paymaster RNCVR (With seniority dated 08/08/1916). In 1917-1918 he served in HMCS Rainbow as Additional for HMC Dockyard Esquimalt. He was appointed as a Paymaster RNCVR (With seniority dated 01/04/1918). He served in HMCS Naden 1919. (He was demobilized 31/12/1920 - the last volunteer officer to be demobilized on the B.C. coast.) (Transferred to RCNVR and mobilized for World War Two service 31/08/1939). He was appointed as a Temporary Paymaster Lieutenant RCNVR (With seniority dated 31/08/1939). He was appointed as a Lieutenant-Commander (SB) (E) RCNVR (With seniority dated 01/01/1943). (He was discharges as medically unfit 01/04/1945.)
