He was appointed as a Naval Cadet (UNTD) RCN(R) (With seniority dated 17/02/1949). He served in HMCS Scotian for UNTD 1948-1951. (Transferred to RCN). He was appointed as a Lieutenant (SB) (Legal) RCN (With seniority dated 12/02/1954). He served in CFHQ on Attachment to the Staff of the Judge Advocate General for Duty With The Judge Advocate General 1956. He was appointed as a A/Lieutenant-Commander (WHA) RCN 1957. He was appointed as a Lieutenant-Commander RCN (With seniority dated 12/02/1962). He was seconded, Commander (Sp) (Legal) RCN (With seniority dated 01/07/1967). (He was released.)
