Biography
After his naval service he joined Department of Transport in Ottawa as Helicopter Pilot 1958. Served two summers in Arctic on icebreakers. Chief Executive Pilot Transport Canada 1967. (He was retired 1978.)
 
Military Service
He was appointed as a Private in the 3rd Battalion (Reserve) Canadian Scottish Regiment 16/08/1940, (Transferred to RCAF 10/11/1941). He was appointed as a Pilot-Observer RCAF. He served in RCAF Saskatoon for Pilot Training #7 ITS 1941. He served in RCAF Prince Albert for #6 EFTS 1942. He served in RCAF Saskatoon for #4 Service Flight Training School 1942. He was appointed as a Sergeant Pilot (With seniority dated 29/12/1942). He served in RCAF Shepard AB for #2 Wireless School as Staff Pilot 1943, Mosquito Conversion Course 1943. (CFR). He was appointed as a Pilot Officer RCAF. He served in RCAF MacLeod AB #7 SFTS for Twin engine Refresher Course 1944. He was appointed as a Flying Officer RCAF. He served in RAF 101 (Special Duties) Squadron 1944. (He was demobilized 01/07/1945.) (Re-joined RCAF on Short Service Appointment 21/10/1948). He served in RCAF Calgary for #10 RD Test and Ferry Flight 1948. He served in RCAF Summerside for #1 ANS for Staff Navigation Instructor Course 1949. He served in RCAF Gimli for #2 FTS 1951. He served in RCAF Claresholme AN for #3 FTS 1951. (Retrained as Qualified Flying Instructor 1952). He was appointed as a Flight Lieutenant RCAF (With seniority dated 01/01/1952). He served in RCAF Sea Island BC for 121 Communications Flight 1853. (He was released 20/10/1954.) (Transferred to RCN on Short service Appointment 06/04/1955). He was appointed as a Lieutenant (P) RCN (With seniority dated 06/04/1955). He served in HMCS Shearwater for VU-32 Squadron as Pilot 1955. He served in HMCS Cornwallis for 84th Officers' Divisional Course 1955. He served in HMCS Shearwater for Duty With VT-40 Squadron 1956. (He was released 06/04/1958.) (Qualified as a pilot for naval aviation.)
