He was appointed as a Surgeon Cadet (UNTD) RCN(R) 1954. He served in HMCS Scotian for UNTD 1954-1957. He was appointed as an A/Instructor Sub-Lieutenant RCN(R) (With seniority dated 01/07/1957). He was appointed as an Instructor Lieutenant RCN(R) (With seniority dated 01/07/1957). He was appointed as a Surgeon Lieutenant RCN(R) (With seniority dated 05/1959). He was appointed as a Surgeon Commander (NR). (He was retired in 1989.)
