Military Service
He served in the Canadian Expeditionary Force 1914. (Transferred to RNAS 1917) He was appointed as a Probationary Flight Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RNAS 1917. He was appointed as a Flight Sub-Lieutenant RNAS 1918.

Anecdotes
He was a veteran of the Battle of Vimy Ridge. After qualifying as a pilot and awaiting deployment he took up an Avro 504 to practice. It stalled plunging to the ground killing him.
