He was the son of Senator Adrian Norton Knatchbull Hugessen (served 1937-1967). He studied engineering at McGill University. He worked as a consultant helping companies to standardize production in Africa, Malaysia and Columbia. Later he switched to teaching engineering at l’Université de Montréal. He was a member of the Canadian Olympic sailing team for the Helsinki games in 1952. |

He was appointed as an Ordinary Seaman (Officer Candidate UNTD) RCNVR 1944. In 1944 he served in HMCS Donnacona for UNTD 1944. In 1945 he served in HMCS Discovery for training. (He was demobilized.) He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant (E) RCN(R) (With seniority dated 06/02/1949). (He was released.) |
