He was appointed as an Ordinary Seaman RCN 1950. He served as a Radar Plotter. (Short Service Appointment 03/06/1952). He was appointed as a Midshipman (SSA) RCN (With seniority dated 03/06/1952). He served in HMCS Cornwallis for Junior Air Officer Basic Training Course. He served in HMCS Quebec for Sea Training. He was appointed as an A/Sub-Lieutenant (SSA) RCN (With seniority dated 21/08/1953). In 1953 he served in HMCS Shearwater for No. 4 Observer Course. He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant (O) (SSA) RCN (With seniority dated 01/07/1954). He served in HMCS Niobe as Additional. In 1955 he served in HMCS Magnificent for VS-880 Squadron. In 1955 he served in HMCS Shearwater for VS-880 Squadron. He was appointed as a Lieutenant (O) (P) (SSA) RCN (With seniority dated 01/08/1956). He served in NHQ for Special Duty for Flight Training at #2 FTS RCAF Moose Jaw for Flying Training 1956. He served in RCAF Saskatoon for OTU 1957, (Selected for permanent commission). SLt Hunter survived the crash of an Avenger aircraft near Shearwater, NS on 25 Jan 1954. ABNA Zruna also survived. The pilot, who was a RN officer, died in the crash. |
