Biography
He attended Sydney Academy. After high school, he headed to Mount Allison University, graduating in 1956 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. Pine Hill Divinity Hall in Halifax was the next stop for Vince. He graduated with his Masters of Divinity and was ordained by the Maritime Conference into the United Church of Canada in 1958. It was at Pine Hill that Vince was also the recipient of the Graham Fraser Residence Award. He has served pastoral charges in Millerton, N.B., Bethany United in Halifax, Brookfield-Middle Stewiacke, Stairs Memorial in Dartmouth, and Central United, Luneneburg, all in NovaScotia. Throughout his ministry he has been very active in Presbytery, Conference and General Council.
 
Military Service
He was appointed as a Naval Cadet (UNTD) RCN(R) (With seniority dated 17/01/1956). He served in HMCS Scotian for UNTD 1955-1957. He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant RCN(R) (With seniority dated 01/07/1958). In 1958 he served in HMCS Brunswicker. He was appointed as a Lieutenant (Chap) (P) RCN(R). He was appointed as a Lieutenant-Commander (Chap) (P) RCN(R). (He was released.)

Anecdotes
He is the third of five children born to Rose and Louis Ihasz. Vince’s parents and two older brothers, Alec and Frank, immigraated to Canada from Hungary in the late twenties, settling in Whitney Pier, Cape Breton. Vince was the first of the Ihasz clan born in Canada. Growing up in Whitney Pier. He served two years as Chair of the Pine Hill Board of Governors and was president of Maritime Conference 1986-1987 and was commissioner to four General Councils.
