He was appointed as a AC 2/c (Pilot Candidate) RCAF. He served in the RCAF for Flying Training With RCAF. (CFR). He was appointed as a Pilot Officer RCAF 1955. He served in RCAF Portage La Prairie 1955. He was appointed as a Flying Officer RCAF. He served in RCAF Trenton for Flying Instructor School. He served in RCAF Penhold as Flying Instructor. He served in RCAF Trenton as Instructor 1957. (Transferred to RCN 01/07/1959). He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant (P) RCN (With seniority dated 01/07/1959). He served in HMCS Shearwater for VU-32 Squadron as Flying Instructor 1959, Completed UICP and Helicopter Transition 1960. He was appointed as a Lieutenant (P) RCN (With seniority dated 18/12/1960).
