Biography
In 1903 he joined the CGS Kestrel as a Cabin Boy. He joined the Blue Funnel Line serving in the Oanfu as a Quartermaster. He served in the Cunard Line Umbria as Quartermaster. He served in the Allan Line ship Corsican as an Able-Seaman. In 1908 he served in the CPR ship Princess Charlotte. (He was qualified as a Mate). In 1908 he served in the Union Steamship company in the Camosun as Second Mate. (In 1912 he was qualified as a Master Mariner (Passenger Coastal) #6508). In 1914 he served in the Venture as First Mate. In 1919 he served in the Venture as Master. He served as owner's representative in the building of the Catala in Scotland. In 1925 he served in the Catala as Master. In 1927 he served in the Cardena as Master. (In 1934 he was qualified as a Marine Pilot). (He was retired in 1967.)

During the First World War he served in the Canadian Field Artillery. (He was demobilized.)
