Biography
He was a mechanic at the time of his recruitment into the navy. After his naval service he became an archaeologist. His excavations and collections provide a fundamental understanding of aboriginal and pioneer culture. The Museum of Ontario Archaeology’s collection holds Jury’s original scholarly articles, site reports, short stories, and photos chronicling his life as well as the large ethnographic and archaeological collection he accumulated over his lifetime.
 
Military Service
He was appointed as an Ordinary Seaman RNCVR. He served in HMCS Niobe. He was appointed as an Able-Seaman RNCVR. He served in HMCS Niobe. He was employed in recruiting duties. He became a special messenger to Commander Wyatt at Admiralty House in Halifax. He was injured in the Halifax Explosion. He contracted tuberculosis and was discharged from the Navy for Medical reasons. (He was demobilized as medically unfit).
