He was appointed as Professor Emeritus - Department of History - University of Saskatchewan.

He was appointed as an Officer Cadet (UNTD) RCN(R) 1960. In 1960-1962 he served in HMCS York for UNTD. He was appointed as an A/Sub-Lieutenant RCN(R) 1962. (He was released.)
