He graduated with a LLB from the University of Manitoba 1951. He was the Vice-President and General Counsel for Shell Canada in Calgary AB.

He was appointed as a Naval Cadet (UNTD) RCN(R) 1948. In 1948 he served in HMCS Chippawa for UNTD. (He was released.)
