He graduated from UWO with a BA in the spring of 1951.

He was appointed as a Naval Cadet (UNTD) RCN(R) 1948. He was appointed as a Naval Cadet (UNTD) RCN(R) (With seniority dated 23/01/1950). He served in HMCS Prevost for UNTD 1948-1951. (He was released.)
