Biography
He was living in St. Catharines ON at the time of his recruitment. He was qualified as a medical doctor.
 
Military Service
He was appointed as a Naval Cadet (UNTD) RCN(R) 1959. In 1960 he served in HMCS Prevost for UNTD. In 19601 he served in HMCS Star for UNTD. He was appointed as an A/Sub-Lieutenant RCN(R). (He was released.)

Anecdotes
He was born in 1938 in Luck, Poland (today Lutsk, Ukraine). His family immigrated to Canada from Germany following the Second World War. Walter was thirteen years old and spoke no English, but quickly learned the language through reading Western novels loaned to him by a caring teacher.
