Biography
He was the son of Lieutenant-Commander (SB) (RCNVR) His Honor Mr. Justice John Donald Large. After his naval service he joined the Computer Sciences Department at the University of Victoria.

 

Military Service

He was appointed as a Naval Cadet (UNTD) RCN(R) 1951. In 1951 he served in HMCS Queen Charlotte for UNTD. (Transferred to RCN 1953) He was appointed as a Midshipman RCN (With seniority dated 01/05/1953). He was appointed as an A/Sub-Lieutenant RCN (With seniority dated 01/01/1955). He served in HMCS Ontario for Sea Training. He served in HMCS Magnificent for Sea Training. He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant RCN (With seniority dated 01/01/1956). He served with the Royal Navy for Training. In 1956 he served in HMCS Lauzon. He was appointed as a Lieutenant RCN (With seniority dated 01/02/1957). He served in HMCS Huron. In 1959 he served in HMS Dryad for the Long D Course. In 1960 he served in HMCS Restigouche. In 1962 he served in HMCS Restigouche for Operations Division. In 1962 he served in HMCS Stadacona for Operations Division. He was appointed as a Lieutenant-Commander RCN (With seniority dated 01/01/1965). He served on the Staff of Commander Seventh Canadian Escort Squadron 1965. In 1966 he served in Joint Services Staff College. In 1967 he served in CFHQ. In 1969 he served in HMCS Yukon as Executive officer. He served in HMCS Yukon (In command) 1971. He was appointed as a Commander (MARS) (With seniority dated 01/01/1977). He served in HMCS Terra Nova (in command) 1977-1979. In 1979 he served at Royal Naval College Greenwich. In 1982 he served on the staff of the ADM (Personnel). (He was released 06/08/1986.)
