Biography
He was appointed as an official War Artist during the Second World War. He was a noted marine artist after retirement and the author of naval history.
 
Military Service
He was appointed as a Second Lieutenant in the Royal Canadian Ordnance Corps at No. 1 Ordnance Ammunition Company 1937. In 1937 he was promoted to Lieutenant as Officer Commanding No. 1 Ordnance Ammunition Company.He was appointed as a Captain 1939. (He transferred to the RCNVR in 1940). He was appointed as an A/Probationary Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RCNVR 1940. He served in HMCS Stadacona. He served in Duchess of Athlone for Transport to UK 1940. He served in HMS King Alfred (Officer Training Establisment) 1940. He served in HMS Wolfe for Sea Training. He was appointed as a Probationary Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RCNVR. He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RCNVR (With seniority dated 18/03/1940). He served in H.M. MGB-53 as First Lieutenant and Navigating Officer 1941. He served in MTB Command Course 1941. He served in HMC MTB-48 (In command) based at HMS Wasp 1941. He was appointed as a Lieutenant (Temp.) RCNVR (With seniority dated 18/03/1942). He served in HMC MTB-629 (In command) based at HMS Bee 1942. He served in HMC MTB-459 (In command) 1944. He served in HMC MTB-486 (In command) 1944. (Transferred to RCN). He served in Staff of Senior Canadian Naval Officer (London) as Staff Officer 1944. He served in 29th Canadian MTB Flotilla as Commanding Officer. He was appointed as a Lieutenant-Commander RCN (With seniority dated 01/01/1948). He served in HMCS Antigonish (In command) 1947. He was appointed as a Commander RCN (With seniority dated 01/07/1953). He served in HMCS Stadacona as Officer-in-Charge Junior Officers' Technical and Leadership Courses 1953.
