He was living in Montmagny QC at the time of his recruitment into the navy.

He was appointed as a Naval Cadet (UNTD) RCN(R) 1951. In 1951 he served in HMCS Donnacona for UNTD. He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant (S) RCN(R). He was appointed as a Lieutenant (S) RCN(R) (With seniority dated 01/07/1956). (He was released.)
