He was living on Okanagan Lake BC at the time of his recruitment into the army.

He served in the Canadian Expeditioary Force (Transferred to RNAS 1915) He was appointed as a Flight Sub-Lieutenant RNAS 1915. (Transferred to Royal Fling Corps 1917) He was appointed as a Lieutenant (RFC) 1917
