Military Service
He was appointed as a Gunner in the 24th LAA Battery (With seniority dated 01/09/1954). (Short Service Appointment). He was appointed as a Naval Cadet (SSA) RCN (With seniority dated 04/09/1956). He served in HMCS Venture (Officer Training Establishment) 1956. He was appointed as a Midshipman (SSA) RCN 1958. He was appointed as an A/Sub-Lieutenant (SSA) RCN (With seniority dated 01/05/1959). He was Awarded Wings 1960. He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant (SSA) RCN 1960 (With seniority dated 01/05/1959). He served in HMCS Shearwater for VU-32 Squadron 1960. He served in HMCS Shearwater for HU-21 Squadron for Helicopter Conversion 1960. He was appointed as a Lieutenant RCN (With seniority dated 01/10/1962). He served in HMCS Shearwater and HMCS Bonaventure for HS-50 Squadron as Operational Pilot 1960, (Selected for permanent commission). He served in HMCS Shearwater for Aircrew Division as Instructor 1965. He served in HMCS Shearwater for HU-21 Squadron 1967. He was appointed as a Lieutenant-Commander RCN (With seniority dated 01/01/1969). He served in NDHQ as Aide-de-Camp to Chief of Defence Staff 1969, Canadian Forces Command and Staff College Course 1971. He served in NDHQ 1972. He was appointed as a Lieutenant-Colonel (PLT) (With seniority dated 01/01/1974). He served in NDHQ as Director Bilingual Programme Evaluation 1974. He was seconded to Office of Minister of National Defence 1975, CFB Valcartier for 430 Tactical Helicopter Squadron as Commanding Officer 1975, USAF HQ (Pentagon) 1977, CFB Toronto on Staff of Canadian Forces Command and Staff College 1979, US Armed Forces Staff College Course (Norfolk VA) 1982. He served in CFB Toronto on Staff of Canadian College as Deputy Director Canadian Forces College 1982. He resigned in 1985. Afterwards he was the Registrar at the Canadian Forces Staff School. He joined Air Reserve Group as Deputy Director Staff Training Reserves Programme 1987. He was appointed as a Colonel (Air Reserve) 1992. He retired from the Air Reserve in 1994.

Service Aircraft Flown: T-34, T-28, T-2V, CS2F, HTL-6, HO4S-3, CHSS-2, CH-136, CH-135 He survived the ditching of an HTL-6 in Halifax Harbour 15/10/1960 and survived the ditching of an HO4S-3 south of Bermuda on 10/07/1961. He also autorotated a CHSS-2 into Kelly Lake on 01/09/1968.)
