He was living in Charlottetown PE at the time of his recruitment. While he attended medical school he was probably serving in the MOTP program and served in the Medical Branch as a Flight Surgeon before going into civilian practice. He is an MD practising in PEI. In 2002 he was Director, Medical Services, PEI Health and Social Services. |

"Dr. Ling is currently a member of the federal/provincial/ territorial Advisory Committee on Health Human Resources and Chair of its Working Group for Physician Resources. He received his MD from Dalhousie University in 1973, spent four years in military service at CFB Chatham, NB as Flight Surgeon and Senior Medical Officer and in 1977 began family practice in Charlottetown, PEI. In 1996, he accepted the position of principal Medical Advisor to the Minister of Health and Social Services of PEI and in 1997 was appointed Director of Medical Services. Dr. Ling has first hand know-ledge of the changing landscape in physician supply and recruitment and fully appreciates the special opportunity presented by IMGs. As a result, he is working towards steadily enlarging the percentage of IMGs in PEI’s workforce." |
