He was the younger brother of UNTD Arthur James Lochead. He was living in Forest ON at the time of his recruitment into the navy. He graduated from Royal Roads Canadian Services College in Victoria, British Columbia, and Royal Military College, and Queens University in Kingston, Ontario. While attending Queens University he earned a BSc in Electrical Engineering. |

He was appointed as a Naval Cadet (UNTD) RCN(R) 1949. He served in Royal Roads Military College (HMCS Malahat) under UNTD Plan 1949-1950. In 1950 he served in HMCS Cataraqui (RMC) for UNTD. (Transferred to RCN) He was appointed as a Midshipman RCN 1952. He was appointed as an A/Sub-Lieutenant (L) RCN (With seniority dated 01/06/1953). He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant (L) RCN (With seniority dated 01/06/1953). He was appointed as a Lieutenant (L) RCN (With seniority dated 01/03/1955). He was appointed as a Lieutenant-Commander RCN (With seniority dated 01/03/1963. He served in HMCS Stadacona. (He was released 1972.) |
