He began his career as an Auditor with Price Waterhouse & Co. (1952-1956) and joined IBM Canada as a Data Processing Marketing Representative and then served as a Data Processing Marketing Manager in 1962.He progressed in roles of increasing responsibility and was named Executive Vice President in 1968 and began serving on the Board of Directors the next year.He became President and CEO in 1972, was appointed President and Chairman in 1976, and Chairman and CEO in 1982 as well as Chairman from 1986-1988. He is former Chairman and President of IBM Canada and the former Chairman of the Security Pacific Bank Canada (1988-1992).Now retired, he has served as a Director on a number of boards, including IBM Canada Ltd.; Shell Canada Ltd. (1987-1998); Royal LePage (1988-1997); London Insurance Group Inc. (1991-1996); Tambrands (1991-1993); The Toronto Sun (1993); The Financial Post Company (1990,1993); Lonvest Corp. (1987-1990); T-D Bank (1987-1989); Thomson Newspapers Ltd. (1987-1989), and the Spencer Stuart Advisory. |
