He was appointed as a Probationary Flight Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RNAS (With seniority dated 19/04/1917) in Ottawa ON. He was appointed as a Flight Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RNAS. He served in RNAS Manston, 21/05/1917. He served in RNAS Cranwell,04/08/1917. He served in RNAS Manston, 20/09/1917. He served in RNAS Dunkirk, 30/11/1917. He served with with Dunkirk Seaplane Defence Squadron (later #213 (RNAS) Squadron) 01/12/1917 to 01/03/1918. He served in #209 Squadron 1918. (He was wounded 21 April 1918). He served in #213 Squadron 1919. He was transferred to the unemployed list 20/05/1919. (He was demobilized.)
