Biography
He served in the merchant service in 1932. Served with Canadian Pacific Steamships, Donaldson Line, Blair Line, CNR, Luneham and Moore in the Merchant Service. He was torpedoed while serving in S.S. Blairspey out of Glasgow in Convoy SC-7 in October 1940. He was elected as Trustee of the Maritime Museum of British Columbia in 1956. Retired on 26/06/1961. He was the Assistant Marine Superintendent of the BC Ferry Corporation. He served as a Master in the Canadian Hydrographic survey vessels in the Arctic and BC coast surveys.

He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RCNR (With seniority dated 31/03/1941). He served in HMCS Niobe 1941. He served in HMCS Spikenard 1941. He was appointed as a Mate RCNR (With seniority dated 31/05/1941). He served in HMCS Stadacona 1941. He served in HMCS St. Clair 1941. He served in HMCS Hamilton 1942. He was appointed as a Lieutenant (Temp.) RCNR (With seniority dated 31/03/1943). He served in HMCS Stadacona for RCN Barracks Halifax for Command Course 1943. He served in HMCS Blairmore (In command) 1943. He served in the invasion of Normandy and in operations off the coast of France. He served in HMCS Stadacona 1945. He served in HMCS Discovery 1945. (He was demobilized 27/08/1945). He was appointed as a Lieutenant RCN(R) (With seniority dated 27/08/1945). (Transferred to Retired List 28/08/1945). He served in HMCS Scotian 1949. He served in HMCS Stadacona for Duty in Navigation Direction School 1949. He served in HMCS Llewellyn (In command) and as Staff Officer Training 1949. (He was demobilized). (Short service appointment). He was appointed as a Lieutenant-Commander (SSA) RCN (With seniority dated 31/03/1950). He served in HMCS Llewellyn (In command) and as Staff Officer Training 1949. He served in HMCS Wallaceburg (In command) 1950. He served in HMCS Llewellyn (In command) and as Staff Officer Training 1950. He served in HMCS Brockville (In command) and as Staff Officer Training 1951. He served in HMCS Cataraqui as Staff Officer (Administration) 1951. He served in HMCS Naden 1955. He served in HMCS Ontario as First Lieutenant-Commander 1955. He served in HMCS Naden on Staff of Officer-in-Charge RCN Depot as Deputy Manning Commander West Coast 1956. (He was retired.)
