After his naval service he operated retail photographic business in Edmonton where he founded McBain Camera in 1949 which grew from a single store on 101st Street to the 8 locations. He was the founding Chairman and Past President Alberta Aviation Council, Director Canadian Aviation Hall of Fame. He was past director of the Edmonton Eskimo Football Club. |

He served in USNAS Grosse Ile MI for Elementary Flight Training School 1943. He served in USNAS Pensacola FL for Service Flying Training School. (He was Awarded Wings 12/09/1944). He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant (A) (Temp.) RNVR 1944. He served in USNAS Jacksonville for Corsair Conversion 1944. He served in USNAS Lewiston ME for RN Tactics Training 1944. He served in Ceylon for Replacement Pilot Training, Australia for Radar Calibration for RAN. (Transferred to RCNVR 01/06/1945). He was appointed as a Lieutenant (P) (Temp.) RCNVR (With seniority dated 19/11/1945). He served in H.M.S. Victorious for 1834 (Corsair) Squadron 1945. He served in RNAS Lee-on-Solent for Seafire Conversion 1946. He served in RNAS Eglinton for 794 RN Squadron. He served in RNAS Hinstock for Instrument Flying Course. (Transferred to RCN 1946). He was appointed as a Lieutenant (P) RCN 1946. He served in HMCS Stadacona for RCN Air Section Dartmouth for 803 Squadron 1946. (He resigned 01/03/1947.) |
