Biography
After his naval service he studied engineering and graduated from McGill University. Qualified as a Patent Agent in 1963. He owned the firm of McDermid & Co. (Patent Agents).
 
Military Service
He was appointed as a AC 2/c RCAF (With seniority dated 01/02/1943). He served in RCAF Victoriaville for ITS 1943. He served in RCAF Cap de la Madelaine for #11 Elementary Flying Training School 1943. He served in RCAF St. Hubert for #13 Service Flying Training School 1944. Awarded Pilot Wings. (CFR). He was appointed as a Pilot Officer RCAF 25/02/1944). He was appointed as a Flying Officer RCAF 25/08/1944). RCAF Trenton for #1 Flying Instructor School 1944. RCAF Mont Joli for #9 Bombing and Gunnery School 1944. Released. (Transferred to RNVR 01/03/1945). He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant (A) (Temp.) RNVR 1945. He served in H.M.S. Macaw 1945, RAF Errol for #9 AFU 1945. He served in RNAS Arbroath for 803 RN Squadron 1945. He served in RNAS Nutts Corners for 803 RN Squadron 1945. He served in H.M.S. Seaborn for Release 1946, Released 1946. He was appointed as a Honorary Colonel of 78th Fraser Highlanders of Canada in Montreal.
