(Short Service Appointment). He was appointed as a Naval Cadet (SSA) RCN (With seniority dated 03/09/1957). He served in HMCS Venture (Officer Training Establishment) for Training 1957. He was appointed as an A/Sub-Lieutenant (SSA) RCN (With seniority dated 01/09/1959). He served in RCAF Centralia for Flying Training 1959. He served in RCAF Penhold for Flying Training 1959. He served in RCAF Saskatoon for Multi-engine Training 1960. He was Awarded Wings 01/09/1960. He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant (SSA) RCN (Appointed 01/09/1960) (With seniority dated 01/09/1959). He served in HMCS Shearwater for VU-32 Squadron 1960. He served in HMCS Shearwater for Advanced Anti-submarine Course 1961. He served in HMCS Shearwater and HMCS Bonaventure for VS-880 Squadron 1961. He was appointed as a Lieutenant RCN (With seniority dated 16/08/1964). He served in HMCS Shearwater for VS-880 Squadron as Operational Pilot 1965. (He was released.)
