Biography
He was the son of and Flag-Captain to Admiral Sir David Milne (Commander-in-Chief North American Station 1817).
 
Military Service
He was appointed as a Lieutenant RN (With seniority dated 08/09/1827). He was appointed as a Commander RN (With seniority dated 25/11/1830). Captain RN (With seniority dated 30/01/1839). He was appointed as a Junior Lord of the Admiralty 1847-59. He was appointed as a Rear-Admiral of the Red RN (With seniority dated 20/01/1858). He was appointed as a Vice-Admiral RN (With seniority dated 13/04/1865). He served as Commander-in-Chief North America and West Indies Station (Flag in H.M.S. Nile) 1860.
