Biography
He was the third son of Admiral Fairrfax Moresby RN. His daughter Lily, assisted him in writing the book "Two Admirals" about his father and himself. He settled in Victoria BC.
 
Military Service
He entered the Royal Navy as a First Class Volunteer in H.M.S. Caledonia in 1842. As a Midshipman RN he served in H.M.S. America while on the Pacific station. He served in H.M.S. Odin. He was appointed as a A/Mate RN 1849. He served in H.M.S. Excellent for Gunnery Course. He served in H.M.S. Amphitrite 1851. He served in H.M.S. Thetis as A/Lieutenant RN and Gunnery Officer. He was appointed as a Lieutenant RN (With seniority dated 02/07/1851). He served in H.M.S. Driver 1854. He served in H.M.S. Hawke as Gunnery Officer 1855. He was appointed as a Commander RN (With seniority dated 11/12/1858). He served in H.M.S. snake (In command) 1861. He served in H.M.S. Argus (In command) 1864. He was appointed as a Captain RN (With seniority dated 21/11/1864). He served in H.M.S. Basilisk (In command) 1864. He served as Captain-in-Command at Bermuda. He was appointed as a Rear-Admiral RN (With seniority dated 26/07/1881). He was appointed as Naval Assessor to the Board of Trade 1881. He was appointed as a Vice-Admiral RN (With seniority dated 01/05/1888). (He retired on 08/11/1888.) He was appointed as an Admiral (Retired) RN (With seniority dated 13/05/1893).
