Biography
He was the son of General Godfrey Basil Mundy.

Military Service
He joined the Royal Navy at the Royal Naval College on 05/021818. He served as a Volunteer RN in HMS Phaeton 1819 - 1821. He was appointed as a Midshipman RN in HMS Euryalus and HMS Rochfort in Mediterranean 1822 - 1824. He was appointed as a Midshipman in HMS Blanche. He served in HMS Wellesley. He served in HMS Jaseur. He served in HMS Thetis (transport). He served in HMS Blanche (again). He served in HMS Cambridge and HMS eclair. He was appointed as a Lieutenant RN (With seniority dated 04/02/1826). He served in HMS Victory. He served in HMS Challanger and HMS Pyramus at Portsmouth and off Lisbon 1828 -1827. He was appointed as a Commander RN (With seniority dated 25/08/1828). In 1834 he served in HMS Favourite (in command) on the Mediterranean Station. He was appointed as a Captain RN (With seniority dated 10/01/1837). In 1843 he was serving in HMS Iris (in command) on the China Station and coast of Africa. He served in in co-operation with 'Rajah' Brooke against the Borneo pirates: 1844 - 1847. He served in HMS Nile (in command) in 1855. He was appointed as a Rear-Admiral RN (With seniority dated 30/07/1857). He was appointed as a Vice-Admiral RN (With seniority dated 15/12/1863). He was appointed as the Commander of detached squadron on Syrian coast: 1866. He was appointed as the Commander-in-Chief North America and West Indies Station (Flag in H.M.S. Royal Alfred) in 1867. He was appointed as a Admiral RN (With seniority dated 26/05/1869). He served as Commander-in-Chief Portsmouth 1872-75.
