He was qualified as a medical doctor. He obtained his M.R.C.S. and L.R.C.P. from Middlesex hospital in 1948. He was certified by the American Board of Preventive Medicine, in Public Health and Aviation Medicine. |
Military Service |

From the staff of the Red Cross Hospital at Maidenhead, England, he joined the Royal Canadian Navy. He was appointed as a Surgeon Lieutenant RCN (With seniority dated 20/09/1949). He completed a nine-month course in aviation medicine, including flying training at the U.S. Naval Air Station, Pensacola, FL USA. He was appointed as a Surgeon Lieutenant-Commander (P) RCN (With seniority dated 20/09/1954). He served in HMCS Shearwater as Principal Medical Officer 1954. In 1960 he served in HMCS Bonaventure as Principal Medical Officer and Flight Surgeon. He served in NHQ For Duty With Aviation Medicine Laboratory Toronto ON as Officer-in-charge 1962. He was appointed as a Surgeon Commander (P) RCN (With seniority dated 01/07/1963). (He was released.) |
