He was appointed as an Officer Cadet (UNTD) RCN(R) 1963. In 1963 he served in HMCS Carleton for UNTD. He was appointed as an A/Sub-Lieutenant RCN(R) (With seniority dated 01/10/1965). (He was released 01/10/1965.)
