He was a telegraphist at the time of his recruitment into the navy.

 

Military Service

He was appointed as a Chief Petty Officer RNCVR. (CFR) He was appointed as a Mate RNCVR (With seniority dated 19/12/1917). He served in HMCS Niobe as Additional 1917-1918, (Transferred to RCNR). (Mobilized for Second World War service). (#O-56680). He was appointed as an A/Skipper (Temp.) RCNR (With seniority dated 08/04/1940). He was appointed as a Chief Skipper (Temp.) RCNR (With seniority dated 08/04/1943). He was appointed as a Skipper Lieutenant (Temp.) RCNR (With seniority dated 08/04/1944). He served in HMCS Stadacona. (He was demobilized.)
