Biography
In 1963 he studied at the Detroit School of Fine Arts to pursue his love of art. There he was introduced to pottery, and when the couple moved their young family to Dartmouth, Jack graduated with his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. In Arichat NS Jack opened his pottery studio and where he practiced and refined his craft for the next 40 years. His work was available in art and craft galleries large and small all over Nova Scotia.
 
Military Service
(Short Service Appointment). He was appointed as a Naval Cadet (SSA) RCN (With seniority dated 09/09/1956). He served in HMCS Venture (Officer Training Establishment) for Training 1956. He was appointed as a Midshipman (SSA) RCN. In 1957 he served in HMCS Niagara for Flying Training with the United States Navy at NAS Pensacola, NAS Saufley Field, NAS Whiiting Field and NAS Kingsville Texas. (Awarded winges). He was appointed as an A/Sub-Lieutenant (SSA) RCN (With seniority dated 01/05/1959). He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant (SSA) RCN (With seniority dated 01/05/1959). He served in HMCS Shearwater for HU 32 Squadron. He served in HU-21 Squadron. He was appointed as a Lieutenant (SSA) RCN. He was grounded with a serious illness in 1962 and was assigned to HMCS Cornwallis as Assistant Executive Officer. (He was released 1964 at end of Short Service Appointment.)
