Biography

 

Military Service

He entered the Royal Navy in 1790. He was appointed as a Lieutenant RN in 1796. He served in H.M.S. Centaur in 1797. He was appointed as a Commander RN (With seniority dated 17/10/1797) serving in H.M.S. Martin (In command) 1797. He served in H.M.S. Penelope 1797. He was appointed as a Captain RN (With seniority dated 17/10/1797) serving in H.M.S. Brilliant (In command) 1798. He served in H.M.S. Hydra (In command) 1801. He served in H.M.S. Endymion (In command) 1803. He was appointed as a Groom of the Bedchamber 1822. He was appointed as a Rear-Admiral RN (With seniority dated 09/04/1823). He served as Commander-in-Chief Cork 1828-31. He was appointed as a Vice-Admiral RN (With seniority dated 10/01/1837). He was appointed as the Commander-in-Chief of HM Ships and Vessels on the North American and Newfoundland Stations (Flag in H.M.S. Cornwallis) 1837.
